The view is the best part! Stunning view and ocean sound. The kids enjoyed the pool. The house is comfortable. It could use some updates but everything worked and the King bed was comfortable. You might like to know that in June the seaweed blooms and is all over the beach, so we could not enjoy the beach at all which really bummed us out bc it is a beautiful area. But, we made the most of our time with other sightseeing. I also recommend seeing what events might be going on during the time you travel. A Soca Fete kept us up all night one night with loud music. Getting out to Sauters is a nice change from the South of the island and we enjoyed our time.
Beautiful, natural getaway on the beautiful, rugged north side of Grenada. Sonia was attentive, John was very quick and easy to deal with, and Sonia also made a great roti at her shop in Sauteurs. Walking distance to good food at Petit Anse, and the sound of birds and waves in the mornings and evenings superb. The sand has eroded a bit at the end of the stairs leading to the the beach (this might be seasonal), so be aware there’s 50 feet or so of challenging footing on some rocks before you get to the sandy stretch of beach. Our family had a great stay, highly recommended.
We enjoyed our stay at Bleu Paradise very much. Sonya made check-in convenient. It’s a great location on a quiet road and the cottage is a great design – we particularly liked the plunge pool. The Petite Anse Hotel is a short walk away and is a great place for a drink or dinner.
This is a wonderful location and a beautiful home but it is a good idea to come prepared! The location is pretty remote which is generally a great thing. It’s near some excellent attractions, like Belmont Estate (must visit) and Levara Bay, and I would recommend staying in this part of the island for a real taste of Grenada. That does come with a few challenges – none of which have to be a problem, but come prepared. I’d suggest packing some food e.g. coffee, any convenience foods. There are small supermarkets in Sauteurs but the availability of food on the island in general is a bit limited and fairly expensive. Lots of great fruit and veg, only what is in season, but other items would be good to bring.
Driving from St George’s to Sauteurs is also something you have to get your head around. Other reviews suggested getting an SUV and this is a must. The main route was closed so we had to drive through the interior of the island if we wanted to get South and it was very steep and winding. Would suggest the most confident driver takes on the role! Also, this means it would be better to stock up on things you need in St George’s before you set off as it’s a long way back.
The house is right on the beach. The setting is beautiful and both that and the pool are amazing to have. The pool is even better than in the photos.
We were there with our nearly 2 year old. She had a wonderful time and, with an eye kept on her near the pool, was perfectly safe. If you are travelling with young children, I would suggest bringing as much of what they need as you can, as well as a travel cot.
Home was private and comfortable. Nice veranda and small pool. Definitely need a car to get around. Right next to Petite Anse where you can grab lunch or dinner. Great stay!
First, let me say; Great location! The view was amazing. The beach in front was a bit rough but you can still walk down and enjoy the view.
Not sure if my standards for “clean” are too much but this cottage could have been a lot cleaner.
The host communicated well up until we got there. Checking in went well. 1st day we told John the AC in the 2nd room wasn’t blowing cold. He said he would have some1 look at it. We never heard back about the AC until we were checking out. Luckily the AC from the living room kept that room somewhat cool/bearable.
The main room at 1st was lovely. The bathroom was dirty. Tiny dead insects all over the counter. The garbage was full from the last guests. The outdoor shower looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in weeks. There were some small bugs in the main room. We both ended up sleeping in the next room. I’m guessing bugs come inside from that outdoor shower.
Microwave or the outlet didn’t work. Petite Anse was walking distance so we ate there most of the time.
Messaged John bc we locked the keys in the house since the Maid Maria wasn’t answering her phone. None of them got back to us. To this day no response from him. Luckily we knew someone from the island who asked around for Maria until we found her and she gave us the spare.
This cottage was a last minute find since our original host canceled at the very last minute. All in all, it was ok. The view was the best part. I really wanted to give this more stars but i just couldn’t.
Dreamy place to stay. The beach the house the pool everything. I’m coming back!
Johns cottage was a very easy and relaxing place to stay. Loved throwing open the doors to the veranda for a big indoor/outdoor living space with easy access to the plunge pool. Sounds of the sea and wildlife was amazing, watching humming birds feed and star gazing while in the open roof shower is probably unique to Johns place. There are a couple of friendly local dogs and a cat if you like that kind of thing, they won’t hassle you unless invited.
Its a fairly basicly appointed kitchen here so no elaborate cooking. If you haven’t shopped already in St Georges then Grenville on the way up has a large Kalico supermarket which is good. Sauteurs has a smaller one and plenty of small grocery shops but limited choice of food. The local market is great fun, even has a butchery section…
Too rough to swim off beach at end of garden but you can walk to Sauteurs along it, 15/20 mins. A 5 min drive gets you to David/ Darvi Beach which is great, very pretty, swimable and with a small bar.
We have a very favourable opinion of John’s cottage:
• The cottages are well maintained by the landlord.
• The shrubs and bushes are trimmed and the grounds cleaned on a regular basis.
• The exteriors of the cottages have recently been freshly painted.
• The kitchen is well-equipped.
• The kitchen and bathroom taps appear to have been recently replaced as they are new.
• The view from the veranda of the Caribbean and the nearby islands is spectacular.
• The constant sound of the Caribbean waves is enthralling.
• We appreciated the proximity to the beach for daily walks.
• In addition to the stairs down to the beach, there is a very accessible public path to the beach about 200 yards down the road from the front entrance to the property.
• The location generally appears to be safe.
• Bathway Beach, a safe venue for swimming, is only a 20-minute drive away.
• Groceries readily available in Sauteurs (5 minutes by car).
• The Armadillo Restaurant & dining at the Petite Anse Hotel nearby.
What is there more kindly than the feeling between host and guest?
